Runaway Scrape & Engagement at Thompson's Ferry
George Ranch Historical Park - April

Join us at the Jones Stock Farm on the George Ranch Historical Park as we share this vibrant but often overlooked story from the Texas Revolution. As Santa Anna's army headed eastward in pursuit of Sam Houston and his Texian volunteers, civilians - mostly women and children - fled their homes to escape the advancing enemy. During this flight eastward towards the safety of Louisiana and Galveston, homes and possessions were frequently burned so that they would not benefit the Mexican army. Settlers packed up what necessities they were able into wagons or in their arms and left the rest behind. 281-343-0218
